This is truly the best Turkish restaurant! The chef is someone you should meet at Michelang Restaurant. The tomato soup, chicken soup, and lentil soup are all delicious, and the green salad, adana, rakmajun, and rice pudding are all fresh and delicious, just like home. It's so delicious that it brings tears to my eyes because it's like the food my grandmother used to make. The chicken soup is especially great when you're sick. When ordering, it might be a good idea to use Google Translate. If you're not good at English, I hope you can translate it into Turkish. Very happy meal
My favorite Turkish restaurant in NJ. It’s a small cozy place. Food is extremely delicious. I’m a big fan of their rice pudding, best of the best. All kebabs are so good. Try everything, you won’t regret
Thanksgiving meal looks different this year for us! We decided to order food delivery for our Thanksgiving Day dinner via Grubhub. I am beyond impressed with his meal considering the restaurant is about a 10min drive away. Food arrived hot and delivery as so FAST! I love the ease of being able to just grab a box of food from the delivery guy than to have to fumble with bags while trying to open my door open. This also means there is less of a chance for the food to tip over during delivery. For those who loves simits, this location makes some of the best sesame ring breads in the area. The shell is crispy and the center is soft and fluffy. The bean salad is so flavorful and refreshing with the sour lemon juice. The beans were cooked to perfection. The down side was my fried mackerel and Sigara boregi, because it was starting to get soggy from the steam. Note to restaurant: Please cut some holes on the plastic lid to allow the steam to escape. Overall, the food is fantastic! And I know exactly what I’ll be ordering next time !!!
What a nice experience I had. I went pick up my food (order placed online) and was offered some tea. I sat by the table to have the tea while my food was being prepared and noticed how nice the ambiance was. Not sure if the guy who served me was the owner but, he is such a sweetheart that made me want to go back there to eat in the near future. The food is amazing, so delicious and tasted like home made. Everything about my experience as 10 out of 10. Definitely recommend this restaurant.
I'm a lover of Turkish cuisine, and always like to find new places that serve Turkish cuisine; and Cafe Mekan is a 5 star hit, with a simple, casual, and inviting atmosphere. Very friendly and welcoming staff, great corner location on Bergen Blvd with its own parking, and the menu is full of Turkish delicacies that will leave you wanting more and more. We tried the Sarma which is served hot (most places serve it cold) - and it was very flavorful and delicious. Lachmacun was absolutely perfect - hot, crispy, perfectly seasoned and light. Chicken Kebab with rice and salad was also tender, juicy, and very flavorful. Dessert was Turkish Coffee, Eclairs - and a super creamy, perfectly sweet, vanilla-ish Rice Pudding (which was perfection to my taste buds). Prices are EXCELLENT - and overall it was an experience that I will be sure to have again in the very near future! 5 STARS
My daughter and I found this gem searching for a cozy dining escape with exotic flavors. Cafe Mekan was magical. Its warm host/chef quickly prepared fresh and delicious dishes (eg, falafel, salad, cacik) and he surprised us with a lovely sweet dessert to top off our meal. We’re eager to return to this tasty haven to try additional delightful Turkish dishes.
